Chaste

DESCRIPTION

Chaste, Vitex agnus-castus Chaste is native tree to the Mediterranean and grows well in warm, temperate and subtropical climates. It will grow in full sun to partial shade in well-drained soil. Chaste is a flowering shrub that grows to a height of 15 feet. The tree produces a variety of colors in flowers ranging from purple to pink and white. The fruit or berries, tender stems, and leaves are all used from this shrub. Chaste, is credited for balancing hormones ingeniously — reading the individual body’s hormonal scape via the hypothalamus and acting accordingly to bring balance. It is used in all cases of hormonal imbalance, from menstrual irregularity to painful menstruation symptoms, and from infertility to menopausal discomfort. Chaste gracefully supports transitions, encourages harmony and inspires a balanced state of well-being. Named 'Chaste' after its use in monasteries to help monks achieve 'chastity', this herb became known for its ability to help one resist 'urges'. Working on the hormonal level and beyond, Chaste enhances our awareness of urges, whether they are sexual, dietary, cultural, subtle or impulsive. As we become more aware of ourselves, our cycles and our relationship with our environment, the root of such 'urges' is brought to light so we can assess their role in our lives and the patterning behind them. Thus, Chaste is beneficial for woman and men alike, helping bring us back into balance with our intrinsic nature.
